REDEF Nepal has supported and assited various inter-caste married couple to secure their right to Relief Distribution which is an initiative to provide aid to the inter-caste married couple to help them earn their livelihood and provide confidence. One of the success story of the Relief Distribution program along with the support of REDEF Nepal is as follows:
“My name is Mohammad Bandre Alam. My house is in Madhumara Ashok Chowk, Biratnagar. There are about 15 Muslim houses in our village. The rest are inhabited by other castes. I got married in the year 2066 with my neighbor Ranjana Vishwakarma on the advice of my family. Our marriage was a love-marriage. Mrs. Ranjana is disabled. She can't even do normal work. Although Muslims are religiously fanatic, our love is not affected by religion, caste and disability. At first, the neighbors cut off the conversation, but everyone attended our wedding. Journalist Mohan Bhattarai came to our house. The next day, the news of our marriage with photos was printed in Annapurna Post, Biratpath Darshan Daily, Udghosh Daily Daily Jan Vidroh Daily and even shown on TV. After the decision, we applied for marriage registration with the help of REDEF Nepal. After the marriage was registered, we applied to the District Administration Office for relief. After not getting money for a long time, I went to Calcutta to work. But we have received one lakh amount on 18 June 2067 due to repeated efforts of REDEF Nepal. We have only half a plot of land. We are four brothers. In such a dire situation we recived one lakh was as relief and with that amount, we have bought a land. The biggest thing is land. If you have land you can build a house and live there. We bought the land because we think that if we are able to live, we can earn by doing wage labor. Now I have the courage to do something. We are very happy for the support of the organization (REDEF Nepal). Now we will be able to live in our own house. We would like to thank everyone for allowing us to live in our own homes despite having to suffer social humiliation. "
