‘Meghraj Rasaili's report for VVC Nepali Service'.
Meghraj himself remembers old memories of the past when he is recording a news or a feature at the VVC studio in Kathmandu. Listening to people talking on the radio that Baba bought in the village seemed strange not only to Meghraj but to many people. Most of them thought, 'How can people be stuck in this small vessel? Is there magic in it?' But the reality is different from what you think. Recollecting the old memories, Meghraj smiles alone and says to himself, 'Oh, the work is done.' Meghraj was born in 2039 B.S in Sunsari in the eastern part of the country. Although his parents were iron workers, his family was financially poor. Meghraj was able to go to school due to the growing social trend that children should be sent to school. But he could not remain a victim due to the discrimination in school and the abuse by his friends and teachers. Due to caste discrimination, he used to attend classes only to complete formalities but in reality could not get any knowledge from it. There was also a shortage of people who would give time to teach at home. "This Dalit should not be allowed to study, and even my friends kept laughing after seeing the insult done by the teacher," says Megh.
Although he did not get the support of family, school and friends, Meghraj's studies gradually improved. He excelled in studies. He passed his SLC with good marks and had a great desire to study science after SLC. However, Meghraj's desire to study science could not be fulfilled. However, Meghraj did not give up his interest in literature despite not being able to study science. At an early age, he used to draw poems covering various fields. He had the habit of writing poetry as a means of expressing his inner thoughts. Although the poems he wrote were excellent, he could not present them in competitions due to social discrimination. While studying higher education after SLC, his poetry was once published in a magazine. "When the poem was published for the first time in the Wlast Times newspaper from Sunsari, tears of joy came." He said, "After that, my interest in newspapers and radio increased."Meghraj got an opportunity to take radio training while studying higher education amid family shortages. Brother Bhim Rasaili contributed 4,000 for the training. "The family said that there is no money and there is no need to take training." He said, "Seeing my growing interest in radio, my brother helped me financially."
After receiving radio training, Meghraj developed the idea that he should do something and work in the field of communication. He started working on creating a program for Dalit rights while studying Das Jod Two. It was successful. But his desire was not limited to that. The desire to study further and become a successful person was alive in him. The only obstacle was the financial situation of the family. Seeing Meghraj's interest in studies, Plan provided financial support. Because of this, he was able to study up to Stankottar, becoming a graduate in journalism today. "The support given to me by the plan is unforgettable." Meghraj said, "If I had not received the support, not only would I not have fulfilled my dream of studying higher education, but I would have been forced to adopt a normal traditional profession." Despite suffering, Meghraj completed his graduation. Meghraj, who went out in search of work after his studies, did not even have to look for a job. At that time,Meghraj, who was interested in the radio field, was called to work by the Bright 90 Network. Earlier, his radio experience helped him in his work. In the days after that, in Kantipur Television, he gained experience in television journalism and started working in VVC World Service Trust from 2007. Meghraj, who is interested in journalism and especially in the field of radio journalism, completed his master's degree during his stay in Kathmandu and started working in VVC Nepali Service from 2011.
There is no need for Meghraj to look back at the past, saying that work should be earned and work should always be respected. The success he got in every job not only encouraged him but also encouraged him to become more successful. He says that he wanted to study science, but later he studied commerce. Meghraj believes that he became successful because of his growing interest in radio from a young age. He says, "Success is where a person gets to work in the field he likes."
